Business Mentoring
The Business Incubation Program, an innovative approach to growing companies and creating jobs, was initially established in December 2002 utilizing State CDBG Enterprise Funds. Since that time Butte County has been approved for additional CDBG Enterprise Funds to continue implementation of this innovative program. Utilizing USDA, Rural Development funds, the program was expanded to include businesses located in the City of Orland. The basic premise of the program is that business growth will occur when sound business models are combined with expert mentoring and appropriate financing tools. This has proven to be the case with the numerous clients who have benefited so far through their participation in this important business assistance program.
The Business Incubation Program (BIP) provides effective hands-on business mentoring and technical assistance necessary for TIG microenterprises (5 or fewer employees) located within the unincorporated area of Butte County and the City of Orland to move successfully through the business development or expansion process.
